Gargle w/ salt soln: Common causes of sore throat separate from tonsillitis or viruses are postnasal drainage from allergies or laryngopharyngeal reflux, acid spilling into your throat when you sleep. Try gargling with some warm salt water mixed with baking soda (recipes abound on the internet). If your symptoms persist, see your family doctor or an ENT specialist.
