Difficult problem: Difficult problem as the core of the tonsil has poor blood supply and as a result antibiotics can't get there at a high enough concentration to kill bacteria. A prolonged course of antibiotics such as 4 to 6 weeks might be able to kill enough bad bacteria to change the tonsil for the better. Good luck!
