All 3 can be caused : by viral infections that will not respond to antibiotic treatment. If there is sore throat & fever see a doctor for a throat swab for Group A Streptococcus. 5-25 years is the age range for susceptibility to rheumatic fever, kidney inflammation & other complications of some strains of strep. A full 10-day course of antibiotics is needed to prevent these.
