All sun exposure wil: All sun exposure will increase your risk of skin cancer. Using sun block is better than not. Avoid sun burns, burns are directly related to melanoma.

Tan: Yes , intermittent, intense sun exposure such as you mention has been linked to skin cancer development , especially malignant melanoma.
