Very slow taper: The treatment for Alprazolam addiction is to taper (slowly decrease) the daily dosage under medical supervision. In severe cases, doctors may substitute a longer-acting medication of the same or similar class, & then taper that instead; this is often easier on the patient. Medicine to immediately block the effect of Alprazolam may cause fatal withdrawal in an addict, & can't be used this way.

Yes & No: There is an antidote for Alprazolam but used in settings of overdose. Unfortunately there are no good medical antidotes for drug addiction. Self-determination, addiction medicine consultation & the right planning is key.
