You need to : Consult with a infectious disease specialist to find the best combination for you. Based on current literature, antibiotics are no longer recommended mvp patients before surgical procedures, however, many is us still prescribe anyway! good luck!

No need to: If you have mvp the latest guideline doesn't recommend antibiotic prophylaxis. No need to take any antibiotics for dental procedure.

Given your: Allergies...Azithromycin is ok but most people with mvp don't need antibiotic prophylaxis as the guidelines changed several years ago.

Follow instructions : With correct dosage, & assuming no allergies to that medication, it is an acceptable antibiotics to take. While current recommendations suggest that prophylactic antibiotic coverage is not necessary for mvp\pvc's, some physicians & dentists still feel more comfortable not taking a chance w\o one. However, if there is an infection present, even if not apparent, it might still be advisable to take.
