I have been using quit smoking patches for a month. just started the generic ones. im breaking out in welts all over, can this be from the patches?

Yes: Generic medications have the same active medical ingredient but often have differences in binders and fillers that help hold the pill/capsule/tablet together. In the case of patches, that includes the adhesive and the film itself maybe. It is possible that the new, generic patches have something you are reacting to. Take something like Claritin (loratadine) for the hives, or use Hydrocortisone to the welt.

Could be: It's not unusual to have some redness under the patch, but if you are breaking out all over you may be having an allergic reaction to something you're taking by mouth or using on your skin. If you have any tightness in your chest, swelling in your throat or difficulty breathing call 911.
