Maybe: It is not unreasonable to have some soreness or even tissue irritation around the tooth immediately after a root canal. It mostly depends on the state of the tooth before the root canal and the procedures and techniques completed. Follow the instructions the dr gave you closely, take any prescriptions as directed. Contact them if it doesn't improve. This is especially true if you develop swelling.

Yes: Usually first 24 hours can have pain and swelling during root canal all the bacteria and infection was pushed out and the body is mad at you should go away especially when canal is disinfected and sealed.
