A member asked:

Can a podiatrist order an mri of the shin or is that only ortho?

Debatable: The podiatrists in my group treat everything from knee down including fractures and nerve issues (common peroneal nerve entrapment). This becomes a political and regional issue but technically speaking yes they should be able to do so. Imaging your shin via MRI is only going to be useful if looking for some sort of stress fracture or soft tissue problem.

MRI : Yes a podiatrist can order an MRI of shin in most states, if it effects the foot or ankle.
