Ice for achilles: Achilles is one option for acute tendinitis you are doing the right thing. There are many other options for treatment as well I am sure your doctor is advising as well I find deep tissue massage work or PT for the calf region to be most helpful. Icy Hot.: There is a general consensus that icing might be indicated for most acute injuries. As one moves away from acuteness, however, the indications for the use of icing becomes fuzzy. Ultimately, it is a matter of experience and preference of the physician.
