Hardware failure: Really not enough information to answer your question. In general, once bone healing is complete - hardware is redundant. Removal of hardware should be based on symptoms...Continued pain, swelling, failure of hardware, allergy to hardware, etc... You should see a board certified foot and ankle surgeon in your area.. www.acfas.org.
