Yes, not always : Depends on the type of infection. A larger abscess will be detected. More diffuse infections such as meningitis may reveal characteristic suggestive of an infection. Usually need to combine clinical history, exam, blood tests, CSF analysis +/- ct/mri to make diagnosis of a brain infection.
