Sounds like cramping: Are you taking a statin drug for cholesterol reduction ? You might get some relief if you try taking 200mg of co q 10 daily.. You might also get some relief if you eat a banana before retiring (for potassium) if cramping persists, seek medical help..

Pain in calves: Pain in calves could be a sign of peripheral artery disease or pad it could be peripheral vascular disease pvd. Might be a muscular issue too. I would start with simple abi to check blood flow to rule out any vascular issues.
