Dx w/ra. started enbrel. lab showed my alt and ast were elevated (122/75) . dr took me off this week. does this cause permanent damage? also, my legs and feet started swelling 2 wks ago. cant wear shoes. never happened before. are these related?

The abnormal liver enzymes should be transient if medication is discontinued, very less likely Enbrel causes a permanent liver damage. Leg and foot swelling (edema of the lower extremities) is not a known adverse effect of Enbrel. I have patients with rheumatoid arthritis with leg edema as the first manifestation of the disease. Leg edema is often present in renal, cardiac and liver diseases.
