Ginding teeth: You may have wear facets on several teeth (see picture), you may wake up with a tender jaw, you may wake up with a headache, you may have flat teeth or shiny fillings on back teeth, your teeth may have small fractures. See your dentist to evaluate you and fit you for a professional custom night guard.

Grinding teeth: Signs of grinding teeth are worn out surfaces on the chewing aspect of teeth. Worn down incisal edges of lower and upper front teeth. Wedged out cavities by the gum line called abfractions.Any pain or stress in jaw joints upon waking up. All these are signs of teeth grinding.

Maybe clenching : Clenching alone may cause muscle and joint and tooth pain. With no noise.

In addition: In addition to the excellent responses already provided, we often see severe wear on teeth, similar to that seen in patients who grind, in patients who have a malocclusion. If teeth/jaws don't meet properly, excess wear is a common occurrence. Ask your Dentist if a consultation with a fully qualified Orthodontic Specialist (usually free) is in order.
