A member asked:

How long is it supposed to it take for symptoms of a hernia to show up after the muscles are strained?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not related: Muscle strain does not cause a hernia to form. Muscle strains resolve with local heat, rest and anti-inflammatory medication (ibuprofen). Hernias are a weakness through the abdominal wall, do not heal on their own, and are not related to a strain injury.
