A member asked:

What does mri mean when it says "the medial gastrocnemius muscle takes a relatively lateralized course"? is this a hernia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The radiologist gets fussed at if they just write normal on reports. They describe the area being imaged. This is just a description of the features of the muscle group. It does not indicate a herniation. The doc who ordered the study should explain if it has any importance in your case. It is likely just a minor variant.
