What's recommended as a cure for my swollen eye?

Many things: Allergies, eyelid infection (blepharitis or meibomianitis), thyroid disease, or laxity of the connective tissue around the eye that causes the fat pads around the eyeball to "push" forward called dermatochalasis. You should see your doctor.
