Treatment: Pernicious anemia is the result of loss of B12 in your system. It can result from severe dietary restrictions, genetic or bowel disorders, bowel resections and bariatric surgery. You must be treated for the cause and the effects of B12 deficiency, which should prevent anemia and neurologic damage from these problems. A simple blood test for B12 level is available.
