See below...: The diagnosis of anemia relies on a consultation with your physician who will check for physical signs and symptoms. Afterwards, if he/she considers it necessary, a CBC (complete blood count) will be ordered as well as iron studies and possibly vitamin b-12/folate testing. Once the diagnosis of anemia is established and the subtype is known, your physician will discuss treatment options.
