Is it true that genetic disorders are increasing in frequency?

Yes but....: However, that is not necessarily due to their being a greater number of genetic mutations in the population. Part of the explanation is that we are doing a better job of identifying genetic disorders. In addition, with better treatment, individuals with genetic disorders are living longer and are able to reproduce thereby increasing the gene frequency in the population.
