Yes: If you are asking it is worth a consultation. If you are worried about your treatment, know that there are lots of different treatments and that you aren't obligated to do any of them. If you don't have insurance, or are worried about cost check into sliding scale psychotherapy or community clinics. Someone can point you in the direction that is best for you. Best wishes.

If very symptomatic: then yes. SAD is now referred to as Depressive Disorder with Seasonal Pattern in DSM 5. It is a subtype of major depression. Treating seasonal affective disorder: Light therapy can be very effective. Psychotherapy and psychotropic medications can also be beneficial. Consider a tropical vacation when it is cold back home.
