Can bad eyesight increase your chance of getting other eye diseases later on in life?

Not necessarily: It depends on the reason for your "bad eyesight." if you're just nearsighted or farsighted or have astigmatism, you're likely at no increased risk. Severe nearsightedness can be a risk factor for retinal detachment and other issues, though. If your eyesight is affected by some developmental problem or disease process, however, the risk will depend on that underlying problem.
