Different cysts: Polycystic ovaries contain many very small follicles - "cysts." these are less than 1cm, and related to anovulation and hormone alterations. Ovarian cysts would normally be 2cm or larger, may happen after ovulation, or be related to some type of ovarian tumor, endometriosis, or other reasons.
