A member asked:

Doctors! what actually happens when one's cholestrol level goes beyond 240 ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: It depends on what the components of the cholesterol are as a high HDL (good cholesterol) could make the total go >240 and would be protective. If the rise is due mostly to LDL (bad) cholesterol, your risk of heart attack and stroke would be increased but remember that cholesterol is only one of many factors, so if you can't correct it, work on the others!
