Depends: Low cholesterol can be a good thing, depending on type of cholesterol. 1 type is the exception-- your hdl. Unlike LDL or toal cholesterol, HDL must be high to reduce your chance of heart disease.

Not much: We use LDL and HDL chol #s to understand a person's risk for heart disease. If u have a very low LDL level (bad chol) and very low HDL (good chol) your risk for heart disease will be similar to people with normal levels of LDL and HDL. Chol is only 1 piece of the puzzle for predicting risk. Generally no danger from low chol levels. Check out my website CardioGauge.com for heart health education.
