Are you a pear or...: Are you a pear or apple. Apples are at risk for heart disease and have high Insulin levels do to Insulin resistance or metabolic syndrome. Pears are low waisted and carry more weight on legs and arms. Pears do not lose much weight with a low carb diet, although their chol/hdl ration stays the same. But pears are not at risk for heart disease. More women are pears than men.
