Ankle foot: Swelling after meniscus injury is common because the knee injury is a site of fluid congestion while healing. That congestion can cause fluids to back up in the foot and ankle as a result. Be careful of inactivity while recuperating from your injury because a blood clot known as DVT can form and really slow the circulation and cause complications. Ask your doctor who is managing you knee to check.

Can happen: Your foot and ankle can swell after an acute injury to your knee that causes a meniscal tear. There has tobe a significant amount of knee injury/trauma to cause enough swelling to effect your ankle/foot. The ankle and foot ar the lowest part of your body and gravity pulls the swelling from your knee down to them if your leg is not elevated. A blood clot can also cause this see a doctor if concern.
