Lack of balance: The atkins diet does not promote a balance of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. We need all three, in proper proportions, for proper nutrition and health. Besides, if the atkins diet is so good, why did dr. Atkins die of a heart attack?

You are mistaken: Dr. Atkins did not die of a heart attack. He actually fell on ice outside the hospital striking his head and sustaining a brain injury from which he did not recover. No diet is the right or wrong diet. That is why there is no one diet that is good for all individuals. I would suggest you consult with a recognized expert rather than trying to get a quick answer to a complicated and difficult issue.

Not too much.: The problem with any diet, especially Atkins, is pushing the parameters of the original diet regimen. Restricting the carbohydrates to absolute minimum can set one up for serious medical consequences. It is best to follow these dietary plans with the help of a dietary physician specialist.
