I take topamax (topiramate) for migraine prevention, i was told i can't take otc meds [tylenol etc] for pain whiletaking the topamax (topiramate). why is that? thank you.

Its a caution: You could take the two together however, it may have an effect whereby the topamax (topiramate) acts a lot stronger and causes CNS depression. Brain activity is slowed and takes effect on breathing and heart.

Medication overuse: If you on a prophylactic med you may be having frequent headaches. Frequent use of otcs can lead to tolerance of medications and rebound or chronic daily headaches.
