Use Antacids!: There are many types and brands of antacids to choose from. Maalox and mylanta are liquid forms and act quickly but their benefit is short term only. You can try zantac (ranitidine) or pecid pills, they work for 12 hours, so you may have to take them twice a day. Prilosec or omeprazome work well for 24 hours(taken once daily), but they are more costly.All available over the counter.
