A member asked:

Could constant, sharp pain between the umbilical and right iliac region be structural or some abdominal wall/muscle pain, or does this sound like ibs in a constipation sufferer? my apr. colonoscopy, recent bloodwork, ultrasound were all normal?

Constipation pain tends to be left-sided on the abdomen but, if this discomfort is relieved with a bowel movement, then it is more likely due to constipation. It could also be abdominal musculoskeletal pain-a muscle strain could cause discomfort. It is less likely to be “structural” if all the tests are negative. See your GI doctor to follow up if it continues. Good luck!
