High serum cortisol alone is not specific enough. The 24-hour urine collection for free cortisol is more valuable if it is appropriately collected. You should patiently wait for the bedtime salivary cortisol. If the bedtime salivary cortisol is also normal then either test can be repeated a second time for ruling out Cushing syndrome. Good luck.
