Severe left sided abdominal &back pain that comes and goes and moves down. bloody diarrhea, has happened 4 times in 1 day. nausea. no appendix. we're out of town. causes? er or wait to take her to her doctor? next colonoscopy not for 2 more years?

She needs to be evaluated at the ER-this could be a case of diverticulitis and she may need IV fluids as well as IV antibiotics. She needs to have her hemoglobin level checked and receive a blood transfusion if it is low enough. This shouldn’t wait as someone her age can get dehydrated quickly and have complications from anemia as well. Get this checked asap. Good luck to both of you!
