HIV-1 carrier (latent infection) is very common and most people are asymptomatic as you are, some may have herpes labialis (cold sores) or oral ulcer (stomatitis). Herpetic encephalitis is not a common complication so you should not lose your sleep with this rare complication which can be treated. However, it can't be prevented. Take care.
