Usually starts working by 48-72 hours after initiation, but full success may take several more days. Since temporal arteritis has been shown to be caused by herpetic infection in many cases, perhaps you should inquire about anti-viral drugs in addition to if you are proven to have temporal arteritis. A biopsy may be needed.
