The ultimate problem with all sleep medication is the eventual failure due to tolerance. Using both zolpidem and melatonin will likely accentuate the ultimate lack of effectiveness. A far better approach is for your doctor to spend time teaching you fully how to institute a Sleep Hygiene Program, which should be the future cornerstone. Also, consider an overnight sleep study.

If you are successful alternating zolpidem with melatonin that might retain zolpidem ‘s efficacy. If you take zolpidem every night , it’s efficacy will diminish and you will become physiologically addicted and dependent on every drug refill being timely to avoid withdrawal insomnia.
