I have several thyroid nodules under 5mm and one cyst within thyroid cartilage. is it possible to biopsy these? do you need local anesthesia? if so is the anesthesia given deep into thyroid or superficially in the skin only?

There is no need for biopsy at this time. You should have a follow-up scan in 12 months and I assume your thyroid function is normal. Take care.
