A member asked:

Can stress cause stomach cancer? i have had a lot of stress for the past year and now i am getting some stomach pains for past 2 days i have no vomiting, bowels are normal, no other symptoms, but i'm worried! help!?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Chronic stress can lead to a benign peptic ulcer of the stomach. Also it can impair your immune system leading to increased susceptibility to malignancy. If stomach symptoms continue, I recommend consulting a gastroenterologist especially at your age as appropriate testing will be done in order to make an accurate diagnosis and institute proper treatment & follow-up. Get help for your stress.
