A member asked:

What could cause stomach cramps, softened stool, increase in bowel movements, some vomiting, with no fever, and no change in diet ? im asking in regards to my 6 year old daughter.this has been going on for about a week and a half.she normally has a bowel

A doctor has provided 1 answer

This : This sounds like a mild case of gastroenteritis (stomach flu or food poisoning). The symptoms usually resolve in about a week or so. The key is to maintain hydration and eat a bland diet until the symptoms subside. If more than a week goes by without resolution, she has a persistent fever, or you notice blood, mucus, or parasites in the stool you should bring her to a doctor right away. Otherwise, she should be a lilttle better everyday.
