My daughter has nightly nightmares about abandonment. her dad isn't always present. her biggest fear is that i am going to leave her. she sees a counselor, but i'm wondering if there is anything else we should do. already no screen, routine, diet,etc?

She should be seen by a psychiatrist to see if there are any medications that would be indicated. Other than that, counseling is your best bet along with a healthy diet and regular exercise. Good luck!

It is important for you to incorporate a difficult discussion directly with the kid in addition to therapy. At that age the are aware of how much their parents play in their survival. Formalize plans on what happens if you were suddenly gone, whatever the cause. Who would provide food/shelter/love to her in that situation. She can contribute to the formation of such a plan. Do this, it helps.
