I find it a common trigger to anxiety. You want a stable household with both parents contributing to your formative years. Loss of one whether by divorce/separation/death can plant the seed of anxiety. If one why not both gone? For really young kids its also a matter of where will I get food/sleep/who will care for me. I encourage parents in split homes to discuss custodial (just in case) plans
