A member asked:

How long does cirrhosis take to develop from fatty liver and not eating well?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unlike alcoholic fatty livers which have associated inflammation, nonalcoholic fatty livers only proceed to cirrhosis 20% of the time. In these instances it takes as long as 30 years for scarring ( cirrhosis) to develop. It's prudent to eat healthily and abstain from alcohol when a fatty liver is diagnosed.
