It depends on the severity. For a minor injury after a fall, just ice the shoulder, rest with splint for a day or two, taking OTC NSAID (advil, naproxen) for pain if needed. For a serious injury, visit ER or urgent care for a thorough evaluation with exam and X-ray. Good luck.

It depends upon the severity of the injury. Severe pain,deformity,swelling with discoloration demand immediate evaluation in the emergency room where prompt testing and care are available. For minor injuries where shoulder motions are possible without severe pain, apply cold compresses for 20 minutes every few hours to minimize swelling and take anti-inflammatory meds like advil. See MD as needed.
