What are the steps for addressing a shoulder injury?

That depends: on what type of injury you have had. If for example you have separated your AC joint you may only need to restrict your activities until your symptoms permit you to return. If you have had a dislocation episode you may require further work up to determine if you need any further management. These only represent two of many different scenarios.

Be evaluated: Probably the first would be to be thoroughly evaluated. A detailed exam and appropriate studies will diagnose the nature of your injury and appropriate treatment.
