My sister (40) got bit by a tick when camping. went to a specialist 2 weeks after bite when she got a rash and is positive for lyme. currently on doxycycline. do folks usually fully recover if they catch it and treat it within 2 weeks of the bite?

Yes. Treatment of erythema migrans (rash induced by Lyme disease) results in resolution of the skin lesion within several days of initiating doxycycline therapy and almost always prevents later stage Lyme disease such as carditis, meningitis, and arthritis.

Sounds like she is receiving very appropriate treatment and the expectation of full recovery is reasonable. Word to the wise in the future. There are several tick-borne infestations in the woods and urge special protective coveralls with future camping.
