A member asked:

Recurrent infections requiring antibiotics led to lab work being drawn on my 2 year old almost 3 year old. her bun was 72 with creatinine of 0.18. why would this be?

There are some conditions which can elevate the bun without affecting the kidneys and the pediatrician will/ should try to work on that. The other possibility is a lab error. Wish your child a speedy recovery

It may be helpful to have immunoglobulin levels, if there are multiple infections of the sinuses or respiratory tract. If there are recurrent UTIs , imaging may be indicated. Please follow up with your Pediatrician. Watch for signs of fever and swelling.
