Kidney infection often causes FEVER and lower urinary tract symptoms (frequency, dysuria, change in urine color or odor) usually PRECEDE the kidney infection, an upper urinary tract infection or pyelonephritis. You do not say how far your pregnancy is but in late pregnancy an enlarged uterus at times can cause hydronephrosis which can be symptomatic in moderate hydronephrosis. Please see your OB.

Yes you would not be able to diagnose either. Acute Kidney infection causes fever and chills. Chronic has few symptoms. It is best you see your OB and get an exam and appropriate testing. Good luck. Dont forget to drink water
