This is just a follow up question would a few weeks of low dose valtrex on and off effect a hsv swab of a lesion? is it likely the negative swab was negative because of the antiviral? should i reswab if it comes back? or is it likely negative?

A swab can be neg if not taken properly from the affected area or if the med has suppressed the disease. Meds should be taken as directed by your MD. If the lesion occurs while you are on the med then it means it is not effective. Stay uundercare and follow direction of your treating doc
