School and mono: While rest is fine until you feel well, as long as you are able to study yet still get adequate rest, it should be fine to start. However, 8 months is a long time for such cases to last. A search for other infectious or blood related illness may be in order.

EBV infection: Recovery from mononucleosis is very variable, as some people aren't aware they have it and others are quite ill. Recovery is usually within 6 weeks, although fatigue may linger longer. An 8 month duration is rather long for this illness. It is best to discuss your activity level with your physician who is familiar with your particular case.
